So
after hearing from everyone how amazing this show is, I was forced to
watch it by my lovely wife last night. Which episode was it? 4, 5, 6,
I don't know and I don't really care either. As far as I'm concerned
it just reinforced why I don't tend to watch UK based police dramas
as the emphasis seems to be on finding cool shots at various modern
locations combined with the most hackneyed, ham fisted writing you'll
ever see.
And this writing is supposedly being praised by all and sundry as a hard hitting entertaining drama?! Hmmm if you say so. Maybe I was just unlucky and the episode that I saw was at the same point in the story as the (initially) excellent McMafia. In regards to McMafia, the set up episodes were glorious especially as they deal with a real life issue, but as all the multiple plot lines converge, or new ones start it all seems to get a bit silly and the story starts to drift.
So, with all that said, I accept that there is the chance that the same thing has happened to the Bodyguard. The only problem is that the characters and basic storyline within the Bodyguard are obviously the same throughout, and are therefore suffering from classic left wing derangement syndrome. If I was a bit more suspicious, I'd say it was a clever bit of social programming in order to get us to believe that the main threat here in the UK are Tories, the security services, old white men who are sexual deviants/rapists (they're in the security services too) and ex soldiers (white) who want to bomb schools and kill people. Including kids.
Oh wait there's one more, there is a Muslim bloke who is a convenient scapegoat for this dastardly terrorist plot run by (deep breath) sexual deviant killer Tory old white men. I know, it all sounds so crazy doesn't it, but the sad thing is that's what we're looking at. Watch the program and tell me if you see different. Hell, I thought that the writers were doing the subtle narrative allusion thing with Tory scum (this is the impartial Beeb after all) when they had an evil old white man MP sitting in front of an official blue poster in a local meeting (blue=Tory). Nope, too subtle. A bit later we are shown a photo of the 'dead' Minister posing onstage with....David Cameron? Wow ok allusion out the window, it's the evil perverted Tories!
So as I believe I might have mentioned, this is left wing conspiracy porn allied with a nice message about the Tories in general. I'm not so sure many people are making this connection though. Can you imagine the Left being treated like this in a 'fictional' show?
But you can't say this is a surprise as the BBC is essentially just programming for the metropolitan illiberal set. What's that-they gave 'balance' on Brexit? Ok, if you say so.
http://civitas.org.uk/publications/the-brussels-broadcasting-corporation/Ah ok maybe not.
The fact is the BBC just don't care anymore, they're doubling down on everything. Let's face it the license fee is secured, the internet backdoor has been closed, they've survived the paedo scandal by doing ummm nothing and they can keep giving each other nice salaries so it's chocks away.
Don't believe me?
Well the BBC made a show for three entire seasons that was simply about itself and how rubbish it is. Full of stupid people (obviously the dumbest is a male public schoolboy) within a stupid organisation that is a stifling bureaucratic nightmare. And you're paying for it all! So who's the joke-the Beeb or us? The show is called W1A. It's awful. And it really takes the piss for all the wrong reasons.
Oh well, at least the Beeb is showing us that terrorism is wrong, at least we've got that to hold onto. Ah, unless it's about killing Mountbatten, then it's all laughter and bants.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/10880690/BBC-criticised-for-obscene-comedy-making-fun-of-the-murder-of-Lord-Mountbatten.html
So what we're left with is an organisation going all in with the Bodyguard, and it's not even trying to hide it's hatred any more.
The narrative simply parrots what we're told by the Left every day.
A country left to run by white men over 50, protected by white men in the security service (perhaps over 40, they're all still swine) who are probably Tory as well (all the baddies are public schoolboys after all), and who are mainly sexual deviants, potential murderers or just plain evil.
In turn,k they are using other white men (the potential far right terrorists and high level criminals) to corrupt and frighten the country. Phew, got all that? Let alone the idea that the people who actually keep us safe from many terrorist plots (the secret service) are all evil and are in on the terrorism themselves. So we know who the enemies of our country really are: Tories and white men of both the upper classes (the controllers) and the working classes (the 'right wing' terrorists).
The main point to understand is that of the Left today:
White males and the far right are a huge threat to this country.
And yet...where are the attacks?
Where are the soldiers being beheaded on the streets?
Where are the van/lorry attacks mowing down pedestrians?
Where are the blown up tubes and buses?
Where are the concert attacks with dead children?
Let's do some basic maths and probability shall we? Aaah common sense and statistics, the enemy of knee jerk emotionalism.....
Considering that the country is predominantly white with an approximate number of 45 million people of this ethnicity/background in the British Isles, then that's a massive pool to work with and gain recruits. Hell, I'll reduce this number to 10 million if you want.
Now consider that a much smaller proportion of the population has managed to cause multiple deaths and havoc over a 10 year period with just 2-3 million people to choose from.
Surely there would be a much larger amount of right wing terrorist attacks going on. After all, there are so many lurking around that it's an inevitability. Right? There should be carnage instead of one man ramming some people outside a mosque and a loner suffering from depression killing an MP.
Where are the other terrorist atrocities. Is there a cover up?
So in the absence of this total carnage based on right wing nutters enacting the evil ideas of the Tories (they're the same thing aren't they?) I can make two conclusions.
Let's see which one is the most logical:
1) There is a massive amount of far right terrorists in this country and they are only being stopped from carrying out atrocities thanks to the tireless work of the security services. Except according to the Bodyguard the security services are part of the problem.
Hmmmm ok. Sticking with logic, this must therefore mean that the security services are doing amazingly well as they have managed to prevent any attack by this massively dangerous, active, motivated and large terrorist group. Amazing stuff.
2) There isn't much of a problem, if any, with 'far right' terrorism at all. It's a narrative that is popular on the Left and the BBC is pushing it via light entertainment to deflect from real concerns over real terrorist activity from another section in society who are far smaller in number. They are also pushing this narrative to stay in step with current progressive thinking about 'old white men.'
I should at this point make something clear before I don my tin foil hat.
I am more than aware that if left unchecked, the security services are more than capable of going rogue and that we should be watchful of them.
But a show like the Bodyguard is seeking to influence the public with it's political, racial and social message which is leading us down a path whereby we are demonising a phantom menace. Right wing terror is not the main problem we face.
Older white men like me are fair game though. We're basically Nazi sympathising deviant murdering rapist terrorists. Unless you're an old white man and work at the BBC of course:)
